OSCO - L'original Non-alcoholic Aperitif

Osco is a non-alcoholic apéritif from the Périgord region of France. (Famous for truffles and perfume - a gourmand's paradise.)

While Italy has taken the drink spotlight in recent years for its bittersweet gentian-root liqueurs, (i.e. aperol), France also has a long history of bittersweet and herbal drinkmaking also featuring gentian root, so it's nice to see a quality non-alc version hit the scene.

OSCO's Original Aperitif is made with verjus(tart underripe grape juice) and herbal infusions, which build both complex flavours as well as aromas. Rosemary is very present on the nose - fennel and anise are on the palate but the drink doesn't read as overly "licorice-y" - it's more green and herbal.

At 2.2g sugar per 50ml (approx 2oz), OSCO has some of the least sugar of any bittersweet aperitif that we've ever encountered. 1 or 1.5oz goes a long way, so if you like bitter flavours and are looking for a low-sugar non-alc aperitif, this is a great option. But also, because it's not sweet you could add a splash of juice or soda that had sweetness and still end up with a balanced and not-too-sweet non-alc spritz.

The price point is a little more premium, but you don't need other supporting ingredients to make a good drink with it, so we believe a bottle of this offers great value to the home non-alc bartender.
