Softer Drink Shop Accessibility Details
Accessibility Info For Softer Drink Shop
General
We welcome all people to our space. Interest in sobriety is not a requirement but is also fully welcome. We aim to be judgement free in all areas.
Kids are very welcome but not all drinks will be appropriate for them. Dogs unfortunately cannot come inside.
If any of the following accessibility features pose barriers to access we would be happy to do our best to serve you outside - please give us a wave or phone call - we will do our best to assist.
Physical
The shop is located up 2 steep stairs. The doorway is approximately 32" wide. The door will be propped open whenever weather permits - there are no handrails but some people like to use the brick doorframe for stability.
There are 2 seats with backs inside and 4 backless bar seats. There is a ledge at the front of the shop for standing / leaning against while sipping or browsing.
Those who are comfortable standing are welcome to also enjoy their drinks at the inside standing bar, or outside on the sidewalk. Please take care not to block the sidewalk for other users.
There is a washroom available but it is very small - room for canes but not really for other mobility aids.
Respiratory
Masks are optional but very welcome, and we thank anyone who is not feeling well for staying home and visiting another time :)
The shop is approximately 375 square feet and may be crowded. Ventilation consists of a continuously running bathroom fan, and permanently open vents above the door.
We have sourced and will be installing a continuously running high capacity HEPA air purifier as soon as possible.
Sensory
The shop may be busy at times, which means a crowded room that may get noisy.
If you prefer a calmer experience, we encourage visiting in quieter hours such as the morning or mid-afternoon - we will be keeping the volume low and encouraging a more quiet engagement with the space.
Music will be geared towards the energy level of the room, which may be gentle but could include faster or louder music as circumstances permit.
Future
We hope to get a folding ramp soon and perhaps a handrail at the entrance, and in the future will be running an air purifier with hepa filters. Thanks for understanding - our unit is located in a very old building but we want to do our best to allow anyone who wants to access our space to do so.
