Free Spirits Bourbon

A non-alcoholic bourbon product from a non-alc spirit specialist. We tried the full lineup from Free Spirits and were most impressed by this offering. Many companies looking to recreate “whisk(e)y” naturally reach for vanilla and brown sugar/caramel, which can easily become heavy handed.

The Free Spirits ‘Spirit of Bourbon’ does have that vanilla aroma associated with American oak, but it’s backed up by more nuanced spices and an interesting lean texture. We enjoyed it neat, a fair bit more than other n/a spirits we’ve tasted, but it performs really well in cocktails. (Try an Old Fashioned, Manhattan, or a Boulevardier!) 

About the brand

Founded in 2020 by former ad agency exec who found himself contemplating his relationship to alcohol. Having developed successful ad campaigns for brands all over the world, he thought he’d try his hand at crafting his own product. He’s from small town PA and plays drums (“passably” in his words), so perhaps he’s a chill guy.
