Modern Soda 'Citrus'

Citrus. Which ones? Grapefruit, lemon, and bitter orange - but not the juice, the peel. Like each Modern Soda flavour, there is a base of apple juice here, which brings the perfect amount of sweetness to temper the astringency of the citrus oils. The overall flavour impression is complex and reminiscent of quince, marmalade, and roses, though to be clear, there is no quince or rose in this drink.This is a beautiful aperitivo - the bitterness creates a lovely texture on the palate and makes you want to keep sipping. It might not be for everyone - but if you are a fan of Italian spritzes, nay, or even just grapefruit in general, you will likely enjoy this beverage. Not too sweet!!!!

Modern Soda is the non-alcoholic drinks line by artisan cider maker Valley Cider Co based in British Columbia's beautiful Cowichan Valley. Each soda flavour is built off of BC apple juice, diluted to the perfect sweetness, flavoured with inventive flavour combos, and carbonated. Half the amount of sugar of "traditional" sodas and ten million times more fun.
Inulin, a source of dietary fiber, adds to the perception of sweetness, and is actually a functional source of pre-biotic fiber. (Good for your gut, affects how you process sugar.) Bonus.
