La Colombette 2021 Non-Alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon
Here you go, a nice little French number for you! It's Cabernet Sauvignon, but sorry to all you full bodied wine freaks, this is a medium bodied wine. Cheerful red fruit is overlaid on top of a stony savoury base. N' overthink pas!
So, Languedoc, hey. Seems to be a great place to be playing around with de-alcoholising wine, seeing as there's more wine than they know what to do with there - and La Colombette is the project from the Pugibet family, 4 generations of winemakers who have been exploring the low and no-alcohol game alongside their conventional wine lineup.
In the past they offered a 'low alc' wine at 9%, compared to the 14% you may more likely get under that hot Languedoc sun. Hey, we're glad they took it all the way to zero so we can enjoy it on a casual weeknight. Check it out!
Black plum and marzipan aromas make for an intriguing nose. It’s generous, with a velvety texture, gentle tannins and refreshing acidity. Flavours of tart blackberries, cassis, licorice and brambles abound. Each sip reveals fruit- forward dark black fruits graced with touches of rosemary, violets and thyme, culminating in a delightfully juicy finish.
